Making Dry Skin Care Easy

Dry skin is characterized by low level of sebum. It has a parched look and usually feels tight and uncomfortable after washing. If you have a dry surface type, you need to follow a routine that is fit for you. However, before you start your dry skin care routine it would also help you to know the causes behind it.

Causes For Dry Skin
One of the main reasons behind this condition is the inability of oil glands to supply enough lubrication to the skin. This leads to dehydration. Your genetic inheritance could also be the reason behind your dry skin. Poor diet can also cause of it. Conditions, like dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, or seborrhea cause dry skin. Environmental factors, like sun, wind, cold, chemicals, etc. are some of the leading causes also.

Those with dry skin should avoid using tap water to wash their face. Use mineral water instead. Also avoid washing your face with hot water. Use a gentle cleanser to wash your face and apply a moisturizer after washing your face.

Natural cleansers and moisturizers can work wonders. Fifteen minutes before taking a shower apply a mixture of 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon orange juice, 1 teaspoon olive oil, few drops of rose water, and few drops of lime juice. This is an excellent cleanser and rejuvenator.

Night moisturizing is a very important part of dry skin care routine. After you have cleaned and toned your skin apply moisturizer. Massage it gently for 40-50 seconds. Take a warm washcloth and cover your face and neck with it for five minutes. This will help in the penetration of the moisturizer.

Milk bath once a week will help nourish and smoothen your skin. Put 250 grams of powdered milk, half tablespoon of almond oil, and few drops of perfume in your warm bath water. Soak your body in the water for at least 20 minutes. Within weeks you will start to see a positive effect.

In addition to the above mentioned dry skin care tips, you should also take care of your diet. Your diet should be rich in protein. Include foods, like onion, garlic, and asparagus in your diet because they are high in sulfur, which keeps the surface smooth. Vitamin A and C are also good for this condition. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these dry out it.

Taking care of your dry skin is not that hard if you have all the necessary information. Plus you obviously have to be very serious about your skin care routine. Half-hearted measures would not give you good results.
